Mulele Maketo Mulele

Mr. Mulele Maketo Mulele is currently serving as Director of the Economic Management Department at the Ministry of Finance and National Planning. He has previously served in different positions within the Ministry of Finance, including as Acting Chief Economist under the Economic Forecasting and Modeling Section, and Principal Economist - Economic Forecasting and Modeling. He has served as Director (Development Planning) at the Ministry of National Development Planning, Assistant Director for Economic Affairs at Cabinet Office in the Office of the Secretary to Cabinet, and Planning Officer - Budgets and Projects in the Directorate of Planning and Information at the Ministry of Education.

Mr. Mulele participated in the development of the Macroeconometric Model for Zambia in 2009, and played a key role in the development of the Poverty Module for Zambia in 2010, which is used to track the impacts of macroeconomic developments on poverty in Zambia. He developed the first ever Ministry of Education Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) covering the period 2004 - 2006, and participated in Debt Sustainability Analysis (DSA) by providing long-term forecasts of economic variables, as well as wrote the macroeconomic section of the DSA reports.

He is a Board Member on the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Board of Directors, Chairperson of the Licensing Committee, and member of the Market Transactions Committee. He is a former Board Member of the Zambia Airports Corporation Limited Board of Directors and whilst on the Board, he was Chairperson of the Finance and Capital Projects Committee.

Mr. Mulele is currently a Doctor of Business Administration candidate at Binary University, Malaysia. He holds a Master of Health Science from Osaka University, Japan and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Zambia.
