Current Support to Universities

The Bank currently extends support to two state universities namely, the University of Zambia and the Copperbelt University.  The support to the two universities is aimed at reducing the brain drain and promoting academic excellence.  The support rendered covers the following:

University of Zambia

• Payment of monthly salary supplementation to lecturers in the Department of Economics
• Full sponsorship to outstanding students pursuing the Master of Economics Degree Programme at both levels
• Provision of funds to purchase books and journals
• Sponsorship of awards to outstanding students

Copperbelt University

• Payment of monthly salary supplementation to identified  lecturers in the School of Business
• Full sponsorship to outstanding undergraduate students in the School of Business
• Provision of funds to purchase books and journals
• Sponsorship of awards to outstanding students

The two universities are in turn expected to undertake research of interest to the Bank.  The Bank sets aside funds for such research.
