Counterfeit Detection

The Bank of Zambia is responsible for providing genuine banknotes that the public can use with confidence.

Counterfeit notes are illegal copies or immitations of genuine banknotes and are not issued by legally designated authority. These notes are completely worthless and cause severe damage to an economy if allowed to circulate and exchanged for goods and services.

Remember that it is a criminal offence to deal in counterfeit notes.

Members of the public are hereby advised to familiarise themselves with the features of genuine banknotes and to report any counterfeits to Zambia Police Service or Bank of Zambia.
