Mr. Morris Mulomba

 

Morris Mulomba is the Director of Rgional Office at the Bank of Zambia located in Ndola.  Prior to taking up this position in February 2009, he was Director of Banking, Currency & Payment Systems for several years. 

During his term in Bank Supervision Mr. Mulomba was involved in a number of projects in financial sector developments both locally in Zambia , regionally and internationally such as bank restructuring, development of banking and financial institutions legislation,    key in introducing Risk Based Supervision at the Bank of Zambia in 1999. He served as Deputy Registrar of Banks and Financial Institutions for a period of four years. He was also the lead coordinator of the IMF/World Bank Financial Sector Assessment Programme FSAP conducted in Zambia in 2001 and was instrumental in initiating the Financial Sector Development Plan for Zambia .   

At the Regional level he was involved in the formation and later as an executive member of the now dissolved Eastern and Southern African Banking Supervision (ESAF). Internationally, he was involved in an Expert Group that advised the IMF on financial soundness indicators.

Mr. Mulomba is a graduate of the University of Zambia (BAC), University of Manchester (UK), (BSc) Degree in Financial Services and Morgan State University in Maryland, ( USA ), (MBA).  In addition he is a qualified Associate (CIOB) of the Institute of Financial Services/ Institute of Bankers in the ( UK) and an Associate (ZIBFS) of the Institute of Bankers and Financial Services ( Zambia ).   and Secretary of the Institute. He also attended a senior management development programme at Henley Management College in the UK .

Currently he is a country leader of SADC project on Payment Systems involved in payment systems developments in SADC countries.  He has served as Secretary of the Zambia Institute Bankers and Financial Services and sits on the Training Committee of the Institute. He also represents Zambia on COMESA Bureau on Payments Systems experts. He sits on the Board of the Zambia Electronic Clearing House.

Mr. Mulomba is an accredited Fellow of Macro Economic and Financial Management Institute, Harare (MEFMI) specializing in Financial Sector Supervision and Payment and Settlement Systems. He has written some articles on bank supervision, including bank failures and risks in regional and local banks in MEFMI member countries.
