Mrs Edna Mwaala Mudenda

 

Mrs Edna Mwaala Mudenda is the Director of Banking, Currency & Payment Systems since February 2009. She joined the Bank of Zambia in Inspections Department after graduation from the Copperbelt University, Kitwe, Zambia with a Bachelors’ Degree in Accountancy. Mrs Mudenda also holds a Masters Degree in International Banking and Finance from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom and a Diploma in Chartered Institute of Bankers, Canterbury, United Kingdom. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of the UK and the Zambia Institute of Banking and Financial Services (ZIBFS).

Prior to her appointment to current position, Mrs Edna Mudenda held various positions within the Bank and her expertise is in the field of financial institutions regulations and supervision. She has provided consultancy services to central banks of Kenya, Ethiopia and Uganda in the field of banking and non-financial institutions regulations under International Monetary Fund (IMF) East AFRITAC.

Mrs Mudenda is also the Chairperson of Financial Sector Development Plan (FSDP) Secretariat and member of the FSDP Implementation Committee. Zambia is currently implementing the recommendations of the FSDP as approved by the Zambian Government in June 2004. The FSDP is a blue print for the development of the financial sector in Zambia.
